The Regional Consultation was held in Cairo on the 25 and 26 October, 2007 on the margins of the ISAM Conference.  Thirty five people participated coming from across North Africa and the Middle East and their were observers from UNODC, Kenya and Zimbabwe.  The Consultation received strong support from the Rotary Club, with Rotary North Giza sponsoring the Opening Ceremony and Mr Farid Gebran, Governor of Rotary International District 2450 (which includes Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Armenia, Georgia and Dubai) addressing the opening and confirming the commitment of Rotary International to work on drug issues.  ISAM also provided strong support to the Consultation and invited all participants to attend the ISAM Gala Dinner as the guests of the local organisers.

There was thorough discussion of the issues raised for each of the “Beyond 2008” objectives and the summary report can be downloaded here.
