The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) will be holding a virtual event commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995) and discussing how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting women and girls.

The event will take place virtually on Friday, 12 June, starting at 3.00 p.m. Vienna Time (CEST).

This is the first public CND event that will be held virtually, and to enable civil society participation within the technological limits, the VNGOC has been invited to nominate three civil society participants, who will have the opportunity to publish their statements on the CND website and make a brief intervention during the event, if time permits.

In addition the event will be webcast to make sure everyone who is interested will be able to follow (the link will be shared closer to the time of the event).

In order to apply for a speaking slot, please fill out the google form before Wednesday, 3 June 2020, 11.55 p.m. Vienna Time (CEST).
Please make sure that your abstract is relevant to the topic of the meeting, keeping in mind the work of the CND, Beijing+25 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that selected candidates will be able to speak during the event, due to time constraints. In case not all civil society interventions can be made during the event, the statements will be published on the CND website.

We are aware of the very short deadline but hope that many of you will be able to apply regardless.

Please share this form with your respective partners and networks to ensure a wide as possible opportunity to engage.

In case you have any questions, please contact info@vngoc.org.
