The 2020 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) will be held from Tuesday, 14 July, to Thursday, 16 July. This years theme is “Accelerated action and transformative pathways: realising the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development”.
The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) is contributing with a report on the work of the CND in relation to achieving the 2020 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Due to the current pandemic, it is likely that the HLPF will take place virtually. The ECOSOC Bureau is exploring technological solutions for virtual sessions and interaction. All side-events will be virtual with organizers being responsible for technical and logistical aspects of their event. The entire 3 day event will be streamed live via UN Web TV.
The application process for side events will be open until Friday, 29 May 2020. Member States, Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs) and UN entities, together with 17 confirmed slots for Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS), can be main organizers for the side events at UN Headquarters.
