The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) commemorated the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and launched the 2022 World Drug Report in an event held on 28th June 2022 in the Vienna International Centre and online.

The presentation of the World Drug Report 2022 was followed by a panel discussion that included civil society representative Sylvia Kay (Transnational Institute) who was selected by VNGOC.

Syliva Kay together with the other two civil society interventions by George Ochieng Odalo (Slum Child Foundation) and Eve Namisango (African Palliative Care Association) was selected through an open call held earlier in June 2022. The three speakers focused on core topics of the 2022 World Drug Report including the impact of drugs on the environment, the importance of evidence-based drug use prevention, and providing essential medicines including opioids wile preventing diversion.
