ACCESS TO MEDICINES

Chair’s One-Day Special Forum on scaling up the implementation of international drug policy commitments on improving availability of and access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes
The event is taking place on Monday, 10 October 2022, from 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Vienna Time (CEST), online and in the plenary hall of the M-Building of the Vienna International Centre.

The forum will start with a high-level opening (10.30 a.m.) followed by a morning (11.00 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and afternoon (3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.) thematic session, focused on eliciting the challenges to availability and access and the sharing of good practices and strategies that support the implementation of the international drug policy commitments on improving availability of and access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes.
- Thematic Session 1: Good practices in addressing barriers to access and availability of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes in the supply chain, including during emergency situations
- Thematic Session 2: Engaging patients, healthcare professionals, communities, and national and international policy makers – addressing a global crisis, including during emergency situations

NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC are invited to send in person observers.
To attend in person you’ll need to send a letter requesting accreditation, signed by the head of the organization, to the Secretariat of the Commission (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible but no later than 6 October 2022. Please also make sure to include the registration form.
(No funding is available to support civil society participants. All delegates will have to cover their own expenses.)
