European Civil Society Consultation 3

The Vienna & New York NGO Committees on Drugs together with the European Civil Society Forum on Drugs are pleased to invite you to participate in the European regional civil society consultation in preparations for the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) Mid-term review in 2024. 
The consultations will take place online and in a hybrid format in January 2024. 

The CND Mid-term review is a process that aims to assess the implementation of the 2019 Ministerial Declaration on strengthening actions at the national, regional and international levels to accelerate the implementation of joint commitments to address and counter the world drug problem. The review will also identify challenges and gaps, as well as best practices and lessons learned, in order to inform future actions and strategies.

To ensure the broadest possible engagement and in-depth discussions on all challenges identified in the 2019 Ministerial Declaration the European regional civil society consultations will be split into 3 online consultation meetings (9 & 11 & 16 January) as well as one in person consultation on 16 January 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia: 

  • 9 January online: 10am -12noon CET: human rights, convention & data related challenges (https://bit.ly/457AFbO)
  • 11 January online: 10am- 12noon CET: health related challenges (https://bit.ly/457AFbO)
  • 16 January online: 10am – 12noon CET: supply related challenges (https://bit.ly/457AFbO)
  • 16 January in person:  (all day): all challenges, in person in Ljubljana, Slovenia

As a civil societyrepresentative working on drug related issues and based in wider Europe*, your participation in this consultations is valuable and important. You will have the opportunity to share your views and experiences with other stakeholders from the region.

Kindly note that civil society representatives wishing to participate in the in person consultation on 16 January 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia will need to self-fund travel and related costs. Accommodation for up to 35 representatives will be provided with the support of Slovenia.
