Call for Applications: We are looking for speakers for several CND Side Events

Deadline: 21 February 2022

The Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs is (co)-sponsoring several side events in the margins of the 66th CND (13-17 March 2023) and has been asked to nominate speakers. Please note that the dates and times of these events are provisional and might be subject to change.

In order to apply for a speaking slot, please fill out and submit the online form by 23 February, 11:45 p.m. CET, Vienna local time.  The length of the intervention will depend on the main organiser of the event but will likely be no longer than 5min. 

Please make sure that your abstract is relevant to the respective topic of the event, and clearly describes what you will be presenting about. Selected candidates will be notified the week of 28th February. 
The VNGOC will follow the guidelines established in 2018: https://vngoc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/CSTF-Speaker-Selection-Guidelines-final-formatted.pdf. Indigenous applications are welcome.

Tuesday, 14 March 1PM CET: Celebrating 40 years of increasing, meaningful civil society engagement in international drug policy organised by VNGOC – we are looking for two to three speakers focused on how their engagement at CND as civil society made an impact

EVENT 2: 
Friday, 17 March 2.10PM CET: Saving lives – Putting Joint Commitments into Action organised by UNODC  – we are looking for one speaker focused on overdose prevention

EVENT 3:
Thursday, 16 March 2.10PM CET: How to effectively engage Youth Civil Society Organizations in addressing issues of drugs and crime globally  organised by Uganda Youth Development Link – we are looking for one youth speaker

EVENT 4: 
Wednesday, 15 March 1PM CET: Establishing quality assurance mechanisms towards truly effective and efficient treatment and recovery support for people with drug use disorders in community settings organised by UNODC – we are looking for one speaker, the speaker selection will be done jointly with the New York NGO Committee on Drugs (NYNGOC)

EVENT 5: 
Friday, 17 March 2.10PM CET: Supporting public health and justice coordination towards effective and evidence based treatment for people with drug use disorders in contact with the criminal justice system as alternatives to conviction or punishment organised by UNODC – we are looking for one speaker, ,he speaker selection will be done jointly with the New York NGO Committee on Drugs (NYNGOC)

EVENT 6:
Friday, 17 March 8AM CET (in person only): Showcasing and implementing the Asia-Pacific Common Position on Drugs of the VNGOC Asia-Pacific Working Group organised by the Pakistan Youth Organisation – we are looking for one or two in person speakers
