VNGOC and NYNGOC join forces for the 2024 CND Mid-Term Review

We are pleased to announce that the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC) and the New York NGO Committee on Drugs (NYNGOC) have agreed to work together as equal partners to ensure the broadest and most inclusive possible civil society engagement in the 2024 Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) Mid-Term Review on the implementation of all international drug policy commitments and the preparations therein.

This agreement builds on our successful past cooperation, such as the Civil Society Task Force (CSTF) for the 2019 Ministerial Segment and 2016 UN General Assembly Special Session, which significantly contributed to making the voices of civil society heard in high-level events.

As part of this agreement, the boards of both committees will jointly conduct civil society speaker selections for the Mid-Term Review and relevant meetings, including the CND thematic discussions in October and December 2023. We are also planning consultations to gather input from civil society organizations on the progress and challenges of implementing the 2019 Ministerial Declaration and other international drug policy commitments.

We assure you that both committees remain dedicated to ensuring comprehensive, effective, meaningful, and balanced civil society engagement in CND processes. We will keep you updated on our activities and opportunities for involvement through our websites, newsletters, and social media channels.

We look forward to working with you and hearing your voices in the lead up to, as well as during, the 2024 CND Mid-Term Review.
