The UNODC theme for the 2023 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking – 26 June’s ‘World Drug Day’ – is “People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention”.

This year, UNODC will raise awareness about the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and empathy; providing evidence-based, voluntary services for all; offering alternatives to punishment; prioritizing prevention; and leading with compassion.

As in previous years UNODC will make available materials such as logos and social media packages. The UNODC hashtag for World Drug Day 2023 will be  #WorldDrugDay. More information about the campaign is also available here: https://www.unodc.org/drugs

We know that many of you are conducting own activities to commemorate 26 June. We hereby invite you to share with us what your organisation is planning for the day. Please send any information to info@vngoc.org, and we will make sure to publish it on the VNGOC website. Short, concise texts including one or two pictures would be appreciated.

Post your campaigns and events for #WorldDrugDay on the NGO Marketplace as well!

The NGO Marketplace is an innovative online platform that gives non-governmental organizations (NGOs) the opportunity to present their work, exchange expertise, network and raise awareness about their work in the field of drug policy. If you haven’t yet registered a profile you can sign up here.

We are looking forward to your contributions.
