We are looking for civil society experts willing to contribute to the CND High-Level Segment in March 2024

The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) will hold on 14-15 March 2024 a High Level Segment to conduct the 2024 Mid-Term Review. The Review will focus on taking stock of the implementation of all existing international drug policy commitments and the work to accelerate the implementation of the commitments from 2024 to 2029.
The High Level Segment will consist of a General Debate and two multi-stakeholder roundtables on the topics of “Taking Stock: work undertaken since 2019″ and “The way forward: the road to 2029”. 

For each roundtable up to 4 NGOs (1 panelist & 3 speakers ‘from the floor’) will have the possibility to present their work and positioningFor the general debate up to 3 civil society speakers (time permitting) will be able to make short remarks from the floor. In order to ensure an inclusive, comprehensive and meaningful civil society participation, NGOs will work through the Vienna & New York NGO Committees on Drugs (VNGOC & NYNGOC). 

Panelists in the roundtables will have 5 minutes to present their work on the thematic focus, all other speakers speaker will have 3 minutes to present. Selected speakers will be asked to send in their statements and videos (including transcripts) no later than 4 March 2024. Interpretation in all UN languages will be available (Arabic, Chinese, French, English, Russian, Spanish).

Make sure that your abstract is relevant to the 2024 Mid-term review,  and clearly describes what you will be presenting about. For the Roundtable “Taking Stock: work undertaken since 2019” abstracts discussing the implementation of one or more challenges identified in the 2019 Ministerial Declaration are particularly welcome. For the Roundtable “The way forward: the road to 2029” abstracts focusing on how to accelerate the implementation of the international drug policy commitments and/or identifying key aspects that are important for the next 5 years are particularly welcome. Abstracts for the plenary can focus on either taking stock or the way forward. 

The VNGOC & NYNGOC Boards will follow the CSTF speaker selection guidelines established in 2018.
