In preparations for the ministerial segment of the 62nd session of the Commission of Narcotic Drugs  (CND), to be held in 2019, the Commission will host a number of thematic discussions in autumn.
On 26 June 2017, the United Nations, governments, non-governmental organizations, the media and citizens around the world will observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to raise awareness about the impact of drug abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs.
The 2nd intersessional meeting of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs will be held Monday, 25 June 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vienna International Centre in Board-Room D (4th floor of the C-Building). 
The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) held a meeting on May 7, 2018 with civil society representatives on the “the use of cannabis for medical and non-medical purposes”.
Civil Society Organizations have an opportunity to participate in an INCB hearing on the margins of the INCB annual meeting. 
A new VNGOC board elected at the Annual General Assembly on 15 March 2018 introduces itself:
On the margins of the 61st CND the Vienna and New York NGO Committees signed the Memorandum of Understanding establishing the new Civil Society Task Force (CSTF) to ensure meaningful civil society participation in the process leading up to and during the ministerial segment 2019.
